Seeing Through the Eyes of a Promise
Did you know there are over 3,000 promises from God in The Bible?
Well, to be honest I had to “google” that. 🙂 I know very well The Bible is full of The Lord’s promises, since it is a book full of love & direction for His children. So it isn’t a surprise really that there are so many!
But let’s circle back to the definition of a promise. Webster Dictionary tell us this:
PROMISE:
1 : a statement by a person that he or she will do or not do something I made a promise to pay within a month. 2 : a cause or ground for hope These plans give promise of success. promise. verb. promised; promising.
So… OVER 3,000 times The Lord gives us statements that He will do something that causes ground for HOPE! WOW! Just so good, right?
Truly it would be Heaven here on Earth if we live out these promises given to us by Jesus. Wouldn’t you agree?
Back in January, one Sunday morning while taking communion, The Lord gave me a vision for my recent collection, ‘Out of Darkness’. He took me to a field of tall brown grass. I was standing on path in the middle of this field. The sky seemed gloomy. I felt unsure & nervous not understanding or knowing where I was, especially since I was invading on unknown territory. My first thought was to RUN! So I then began to run fiercely down this path. Suddenly a violent storm broke out of the sky. As I moved I felt rain drops hit my body. I particularly noticed how the rain hit my face. Running full force, I could only see the rain drops coming at my eyes. Each drop grew larger and larger, so much that it appeared like I was running into it. I could actually see through each rain drop! The color was wildly RAINBOW! Each drop was swirling with beautiful reflective color. It was as if I was seeing with a lens of rainbow color! I was hit one after another with a warm splash of glorious rainbow raindrops. No longer was the storm terrifying, rather the rain gave me a sense of comfort & freedom.
As I continued to run down the path, the tall grass began to turn from brown to bright green! I was surrounded by such beauty of nature, with all kinds of glorious flowers I never saw or imagined! I could feel my fear wash off of me with each raindrop. The sky began to open up with bright rays of sunshine yet still refreshingly sweet rain drops fell from the now bright blue sky. Suddenly, without prompting, I stopped running and fearlessly dropped back into the tall blades of grass and allowed each blade catch my fall. Laying on a soft bed of grass, I gazed up into the the sky. The blue sky was refreshing. I could hear the birds singing a beautiful song, one never heard before yet somehow it evoked a joyful memory from the past. With a smile on my face, I took in all the glory set around me. Oh and..the butterflies…how beautiful were the butterflies, delicately radiant, dancing ever so gracefully above my gaze!!! Suddenly the giant blades of grass interrupted my vision of the butterflies by forming together into a shape of a heart!
I came away with a steadfast confirmation of His promises. First, I was reminded of the path of prosperity He promises in Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” And He amazingly gave me a new lens or perspective, through one of a well known representation of His promise given to Noah, A RAINBOW. Genesis 9:16 (NIV) “Whenever the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and all living creatures of every kind on the earth.” As I ran further into the rain, which represented an out pouring of His grace, I could see through this rainbow of promise. The world began to look differently!
• The grass reflected His nourishment as it turned from brown to green.
• The sky opened up as I ran out of darkness into glorious sunshine.
• The surroundings became beautifully graced with flowers I have never seen before.
• The birds sang a new song.
• I FEARLESSLY fell back & allowed the blades of grass (represents Jesus) to catch me
• The butterflies carried a promise of new life.
• The blades forming a heart sealed this view with His love.
Just three days ago we celebrated Jesus’ Resurrection. When He said on the cross “It is finished” John 19:30(NIV) He sealed the new covenant with His love. We now can come before the Lord and receive all of His promises. Over 3,000 promises written in The Bible, were given to us as tools to renew our mind & perspective. Our circumstances can be seen through the lens of His promises! This is how we can live victorious!
Will you put on the lens of His promises with me today? Now, take a step & see the world as He has it for you. He’s just so GOOD!
I hope my new collection gives you a glimpse of His glorious promises!!
Blessings!
Laura
